Friction welding machines

The unique friction welding machines of the RS02 series are professional tools for the maintenance operator and also the fastest and most reliable way of welding belt profiles. Constantly good quality connections are produced in a few seconds with repeatable accuracy due to fixed welding parameters.
Welding clamping jaws tuned to the respective profile ensure reliable clamping and perfect alignment of the profile.
Thanks to its handy type of construction, the friction welding machine can even be used in narrow space conditions for comfortable welding. 

What shapes can be welded?

The RS02 friction welding machine allows for the butt splice of PU round belts with or without a reinforcement, ranging from 6 to 20 mm, as well as PU V-belts with or without a reinforcement, ranging from 6 x 4 mm to 22 x 14 mm. 
However, many other geometric shapes and special profiles can also be joined using this welding technique with the aid of special clamping jaws.

 

What is the principle behind friction welding?

Essentially, this welding technique utilises the inherent coefficient of friction between the profile materials, thereby causing the material to melt at the joint under pressure and rotational movement. The user decides when the process can be stopped, as soon as a welding bead has formed all around the joint.

What needs to be taken into account to ensure a successful weld?

To clamp the profiles securely during this process, clamping jaws tailored to the specific geometry are required.
With this welding process, the belt ends are precut in a flat and square manner to ensure optimal welding conditions and to allow friction to build up across the entire joint surface. For belt profiles reinforced with reinforcements, as is standard practice, the reinforcement must be removed by a drill-off of a few millimetres from each joint surface prior to welding to prevent the reinforcement from lying across the weld joint, thereby compromising the weld joint.
An exception to this is the patented, weldable BEHAbelt glass fibre reinforcement, where this step can be omitted.
