Belt tensioner RSH

Starting in 2010 the BEHAbelt Newsletter takes on technical topics in the "Things you should know" section. Here we discuss topics that you may run into on your day- to- day routine at work or with a client. Our second topic of the year is fizzling/wheezing of belts.

• The phenomenon of the fizzling belts within the machinery can have different reasons. In general sounds (fizzling, permanent or discontinuous wheezing) can be effected trough friction between the pulley and the belt. This friction can be caused by failure of the drive geometry (profile shape). Moreover sounds can appear when the belt slips over the pulley when the belt tension is to low or there is a underdimensioning of the belt. When the belt tension is to low, vibrations within the empty side rope may appear and the belt will derail off the pulley.
